CITY HALL – 735 ANACAPA STREET CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS PLAN SANTA BARBARA (PLANSB) GENERAL PLAN FRAMEWORK: DRAFT POLICY PREFERENCES The purpose of this public hearing is for the Planning Commission to consider the General Plan Framework and Draft Policy Preferences for amendments to the City’s General Plan and make a recommendation to the City Council. The City recently completed public workshops on the Policy Options Report in July of 2008. The workshops and extensive public feedback helped inform the draft policies to be evaluated for the City’s amendment to the existing General Plan when planning for the next 20 year period. The Planning Commission action will include review of the alternatives to be included as a part of the Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) being prepared for the PlanSB General Plan Amendment. The Planning Commission will meet on PlanSB during two days. The first day will include a presentation on the recommended policies, Planning Commission questions and comments, and public input. Public input on the draft policies is encouraged on the first day to give the Planning Commission time to consider public input before taking action. The second day will be discussion and deliberation by the Planning Commission for their recommendation on the General Plan framework and policies to the City Council. The staff report and framework reports will be available at the Planning Counter, 630 Garden St., City Clerk's office, 735 Anacapa St., or the Central Library as of August 29, 2008. LET US KNOW Whether you are a PCS member or not, you are encouraged to notify the Pearl Chase Society about potential preservation issues or alerts. Please contact the Society as soon as you are aware of an upcoming situation so that the Society will have time to respond. The following procedures are suggested in order for the Pearl Chase Society to take action on any preservation issue or alert: Write out the specifics of the structure, landscape or issue involved and the reasons for your concern. Include the property address, if applicable. Provide your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. Photographs of the subject property and surrounding properties are helpful. Send the information to the Society either by letter or e-mail. If you are also interested in giving a presentation to the Preservation Committee, which meets the fourth Tuesday of each month, please call The committee may recommend persons or agencies that might assist with solving the matter and/or vote to present the issue to the Board of the Pearl Chase Society with recommendations for action. The Board, at its discretion, may authorize that a letter of support be sent to the relevant agencies and officials.
